GoodNotes Stickers: How to Add, Resize and Organize Them
Digital stickers are transparent PNG images you place on top of your notes. In GoodNotes, insert the image, resize it, and save the ones you reuse to your elements library so you can add them with a tap. Used lightly, stickers help you label sections, mark priorities and make a planner pleasant to open. This guide explains the formats, the steps and how to organize a large collection.
What a digital sticker is
A sticker is just an image with a transparent background, usually a PNG. When you insert it, only the artwork appears over your page. This is different from a photo or a JPEG, which has a solid background and would hide what's under it.
Stickers come in a few types:
- Functional stickers: checkboxes, labels, headers, tabs, arrows, dividers.
- Icons: small symbols for categories such as work, health, travel or meals.
- Illustrated stickers: decorative art such as florals, food, animals or seasonal themes.
- Washi tape and frames: decorative strips and borders.
How to add a sticker (general steps)
- Save the sticker files to Photos or Files.
- Open your document and choose the image or photo tool.
- Select the sticker file.
- Drag it to where you want it, and pinch or drag the corners to resize.
- Copy and paste it to reuse it on other pages.
In GoodNotes you can also save stickers in the elements tool so they are always at hand. Menu names differ between apps and versions, so look for the same idea.
Keep a sticker library
A large set of stickers is only helpful if you can find what you need. Tips:
- Make folders by category in Files before importing.
- Save your top 20 into the app's elements or stickers library.
- Use a sticker book. A PDF that shows the whole set with thumbnails makes browsing easier.
- Name files clearly so you can search for them.
The Quick-Start Guide in PlanBloom All-in-One Digital Planner has a page about how PNG stickers work and how to place them. The main purchase includes more than 5,500 transparent PNG stickers (5,574 files), a mix of functional stickers, icons and about 150 illustrated ones. A larger Sticker, Icon & Cover Mega Pack is a separate add-on and is not included in the main planner.
Using stickers in a planner
Stickers can make a planner easier to scan, if used with intent:
- Priority markers: one star or flag for the top task.
- Section labels: small headers for work, home and personal.
- Habit icons: an icon for each habit in a tracker.
- Event markers: birthdays, trips, appointments.
- Seasonal touches: change a monthly header sticker each month.
Keep them away from tabs and top-bar buttons, or the links under them won't respond. If you duplicate a page with stickers, the stickers duplicate too.
Size and performance
Very large images can slow down a document. Prefer smaller stickers (a few hundred pixels across) for everyday use. If you notice lag, delete unused stickers or move them to a separate page.
Using stickers across apps
PNG stickers work in GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf and other apps that let you insert images. Only the way you insert and save them changes. See GoodNotes covers for adding a full-page image and GoodNotes templates for page layouts to place stickers on.
Do I need to buy stickers?
Not to plan. A planner works without any. Stickers are a way to personalize. Start with the ones you actually use: a few checkboxes, labels and icons often cover 90% of needs. Add decorative sets only if they make you want to open your planner.
A tidy example
A weekly spread could use:
- A month-colored header sticker at the top.
- A star beside your one priority.
- Small icons next to appointments (a cup for coffee meetings, a heart for personal time).
- A completed sticker on finished tasks.
That is five stickers, and it makes the page easier to read at a glance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Sticker has a white box | The file isn't transparent. Use a PNG with transparency. |
| Sticker moves when I write | Lock it if your app supports it, or flatten the page |
| Document is slow | Remove very large or unused stickers |
| Links don't work | A sticker may be covering the link area. Move it |
When you've chosen your stickers, return to the planner itself and see how to import and navigate it in the GoodNotes digital planner guide.
